This run-chart contains data on 4 key indicators of a Fracture Liaison Service, and shows the percentage of patients meeting each criterion.

Patients receiving an FLS Assessment on or within 90 days of diagnosis of a fragility fracture
Numerator: Percentage of patients where the deference between two dates was less than 91 days:
• The date on which the index fracture that led to FLS contact was diagnosed
• Date of FLS assessment
Denominator: All records submitted

Patients offered/referred for falls risk assessment. Derived from one data item:-
Numerator: Question 'Was a falls risk assessment performed' equals any of the following:
• Yes
• Referred for formal medical led falls clinic assessment
• Referred for formal therapy led falls clinic assessment
Denominator: All records submitted

Patients offered bone protection treatment: Derived from 2 data items:-
Numerator: Question 'Bone therapy recommended following index fracture' equals any of the following:
• Referred to GP to decide prescription
• Referred for further clinical opinion
• A bone-protection treatment
Denominator: All records submitted

Proportion of patients under 75 offered a DXA (or having received a DXA in last 24 months?). Derived from 4 data items:-
Numerator: Patients under 75 at date of index fracture who presented with a fragility or atypical fracture.
• The date on which the index fracture that led to FLS contact was diagnosed
• Question 'Type of fracture' equals 'fragility' or 'atypical'
Denominator: Where a patient meets the above criteria and
• Question 'DXA' equals 'Ordered' or 'Recommended' or 'Done in last 24 month'

Data Selection
All patient records from January 2016 up to 2 months prior to the current date. This is to allow sufficient time for the data to be collected and entered.

Time Axis
The charts uses dataset item 1.12 'Index Fragility Fracture(s) that led to FLS contact - Date diagnosed' as the main monthly time-base.

Data Calculations
The chart data is calculated as a simple % of those patients meeting all the criteria against all patients.

Update Frequency
Chart data is recalculated every 6 hours.
